It’s all in the name: KCM now KATHREIN

August 20, 2020

A rename for Kathrein Capital Management Funds changes the prefix “KCM” to “Kathrein”

Vienna, August 2020. On August 21, 2020, all Kathrein Capital Management Funds (KCM Funds) – with the exception of the MI Multi Strategy SRI – will undergo a name change. That means our Kathrein Capital Management Aktien Global SRI Fund, which enjoys immense popularity and has recently been recognized by “Stiftung Warentest,” will change its name to Kathrein Sustainable Global Equity̶ and will continue to offer investors a great option to participate in sustainable investments.
Kathrein Privatbank firmly believes that socially responsible asset management will enhance the quality of life for future generations. To realize this objective, sustainable investments are an essential part of our strategic positioning, making this year’s recognition by Stiftung Warentest even more meaningful for us. From among more than 100 sustainable funds, the experts from Stiftung Warentest scrutinized the top 26 funds. In the course of this rigorous examination, our sustainable fund was put to the test and awarded the Finanztest rating "high" (see Stiftung Warentest, 2020: pg. 42)¹
As an actively managed fund, our Kathrein Capital Management Aktien Global SRI Fund − under its new name Kathrein Sustainable Global Equity − offers an attractive opportunity for investment in the global stock market. Our stock picking process, which utilizes our proprietary DEFEX ("default expectation") model, identifies and excludes the riskiest companies. This approach reduces volatility and price spread. In addition, when selecting individual securities for the fund, we apply social and ecological exclusion criteria in accordance with the requirements of the Austrian Eco-label for sustainable financial products.
Based on those requirements, only companies with the best ESG² ratings ─ Best in Class ─ are included in the investment universe.
In recent years, sustainability has become an issue many investors care about deeply. Against this background, independent third-party scrutiny of sustainable investment funds is key in ensuring the sustainability of an investment. The sustainability certification that confirms compliance substantiates consistent exclusion of ethically and ecologically questionable industries. For this very reason, we are exceedingly proud of every award our Kathrein Sustainable Global Equity (formerly Kathrein Capital Management Aktien Global SRI) receives. In addition to our most recent recognition by Stiftung Warentest, this fund has already been awarded the prestigious FNG seal and the European Transparency Code for sustainability funds. The carbon footprint is also calculated for this fund. To calculate the carbon footprint, we are collaborating with the CSSP - Center for Social and Sustainable Products AG. The carbon emissions for the fund are published on the platform "yourSRI.com".
Mag. Stefan Neubauer, Board Member of Kathrein Privatbank: "The global spread of the coronavirus has pushed the issue of sustainability even further into public focus. In line with this trend, investors are increasingly concerned with the question of what is being financed with their money and where their money is invested. Experience in recent years has taught us that doing good doesn’t have to mean sacrificing performance. Even in the weeks of the coronavirus stock market crash and the associated drop in oil prices, sustainable stocks tended to outperform conventional stocks due to the low or non-existent share of companies from the traditional energy sector."
