General Terms and Conditions

Information on bank transfer service using the SWIFT network

For international bank transfers and special urgent transfer instructions, the data contained in the transfer instructions will be forwarded to the beneficiary’s bank via the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) having its registered office in Belgium. At this time there is no other company offering this service on a worldwide basis, so that Austrian banks have no alternative to using the services of SWIFT for handling international payment transactions. No Austrian bank would be in a position to offer its customers worldwide payment transfer service without cooperating with SWIFT. The SWIFT network used by Austrian banks complies with the highest technology of safety requirements.

For reasons of system safety, SWIFT saves the transaction data on a temporary basis in its computer centres in the Netherlands and the USA.

It is therefore possible that data saved by SWIFT in the USA must be disclosed to US authorities for the purpose of fighting international terrorism.

This information is given by instructions of the Austrian data protection authority with reference to the legal situation.
